At its heart, FilipinoCupid is a solid Asian dating site with lots of members. It’s actually the biggest of all those covering the Philippines. What I quickly found is that FilipinoCupid strives to bring people together for marriage and long term relationships. That’s their aim. Sure there are people there looking for flings and casual sex, but they’re definitely in the minority.
This site also pulls in a lot of other Asian cultures. You can commonly find Asian beauties from exotic places like Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Within half an hour or so I found dozens of attractive Asian women there looking for husbands and planning to leave their own countries.
My recommendation is to put a bit of novelty into you’re lame old profile. Add some quirky stories or tell some experiences about your travels in your bio area. Add a couple of eye popping photos.
How to Succeed on FilipinoCupid
The plain photo ad on FilipinoCupid lets you put yourself out there and hopefully attract folks you’re well-matched with. But what I found is that if you want to succeed, you must go that extra mile. There’s a heck of lot of people on FilipinoCupid and standing out can be tough.

What we also found is that adding more photos and even a video or two can really help boost your appeal. In our review we found ads with 3, or more good high quality photos got twice as much interest as ads with no pictures or video, or just one low quality image – such as a self-taken phone photo.
If you know nothing of the Asian way of life, keep in mind that people there are a bit more traditional and serious when it comes to relationships.
If you’re a man, one thing you’ll come across a lot is Asian girls looking for their next husband. It’s quite a common thing there now and isn’t looked down upon at all.
I’m making a bit of a generalization here, but in my experience Asian women for sure do prefer men who’re responsible, hard working and financially stable. They also place high importance on strong family values. Coming across as a lazy slacker or party animal might go down well with Western women, but isn’t likely to impress many Asian girls.

Paying users appear right at the top in FilipinoCupid search pages. If you’re a free member this is very handy because these are the only people you’re able to talk with. But the flipside is your profile will also be hidden far below paying members when people are looking for someone like you!
If you want to overcome this and if you’d like to access the pool of free members you will need to go up one level and pay for it. The Gold membership is the best value for money as it gives you the power to communicate with anyone and it boosts your profile above the mass of free users.
Striking Up
I found the easiest way to “break the ice” with someone new at FilipinoCupid is just to hit them with an instant chat request. But this only works if they’re online. If they’re offline you’ll need to go down the email road.
The good thing about instant chat is that you’re not waiting days, weeks even for someone to reply to you who’s a) possibly not interested in you anyway, or b) left the site months ago because they’ve already found someone. If they like the look of your profile, 9 times out of 10 they’ll respond positively.

It also makes it especially easy if you’re not Asian but just want to meet a Filipino girl or guy to date or be pen pals with.
